We are obliged to postpone our AGM and Spring Lecture which were scheduled to take place on Friday 27th March 2020. This is because of the current situation regarding the COVID-19 virus, and the Government advice concerning social gatherings. We shall seek to reschedule the event when circumstances allow, but at present it is not possible to say when that will be.

On Monday 10th February 2020 a talk on the Twixt Thistle & Rose project will be given to Lowick Heritage Group by Linda Bankier. She will describe what this cataloguing project is revealing about the contents of Berwick Borough Archives. Talk starts at 7.30pm in Lowick Village Hall.

As part of the Berwick Literary Festival, Linda Bankier and Gilly Beckett are holding an event called “Crime & Creative Writing: using the archives for inspiration”. It takes place on Friday 18th October 2019 at 10.00am in the Parish Centre (Parade). Tickets £6.00. Crime is a perennial theme in literature but what inspires the writer? Linda Bankier will outline the archives sources available on this theme. Gilly Beckett and her Creative Writing group will read excerpts from their stories which were inspired by Berwick’s archives. A meeting to bring people up-to-date with progress on the Twixt Thistle and Rose project will be held on 5 July 2019 at 7.00pm in the Parish Centre, Berwick. It will give an opportunity for Friends and volunteers to hear what is going on in the archive recataloguing project, and to meet and talk with each other. All welcome.
