At the current exhibition of Berwick photographs in the Granary Gallery, “The Light of Days Past”, there will be two guided tours offered by its curator Cameron Robertson. They are on Saturdays 17th January and 7th February 2026, starting at 1.00pm, and each tour will last around 45 minutes. Cameron will talk about some of the stories behind the scenes and people seen in the photographs. Tickets cost £4.00 and should be booked in advance via the Maltings website.

The FBDMA Autumn Lecture will be given by Cameron Robertson, speaking about “The History of Photography in Berwick 1840 – 1950” on Friday 7th November 2025. It will explore some of the themes and characters featured in the current exhibition at the Granary Gallery, highlighting some of the early photographers who lived in Berwick. The lecture will start at 7.00pm in the Parish Centre (Parade, Berwick). All welcome – admission free.
An exhibition entitled “North Northumberland’s contribution to the Far East campaign” will be held to mark VJ Day from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th August 2025, in the church of St Andrew’s Wallace Green. It will focus on the experiences of local people in World War 2. The opening times of the free exhibition will be: Friday 15th, 2.00-4.00pm Saturday 16th, 11.00am-4.00pm Sunday 17th, 1.00-4.00pm
An exhibition on the history of photography in Berwick is being prepared by Cameron Robertson, to open at the Granary Gallery in October 2025. He is hoping to include photographs from family collections – these could be portraits taken in studios in the town, snapshots, or anything relating to Berwick, Tweedmouth and Spittal in the period 1840-1980. A Drop-In event is being held on Saturday 5th July, 10.30 – 12.30, in Berwick Record Office, where you can find out about the exhibition, share some of your own photos, and see some of the images in the collections. Did you go to Holy Trinity School or the Parade School? On Saturday 14 June 2025 from 10.00am until 12 noon there will be a ‘Drop In’ event at Holy Trinity First School (which is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year). Please come along and share your memories and any photographs with each other and with the staff of Berwick Record Office who are organising the event. Memories from c.1980 to 2010 will be especially welcome.
