On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May 2025 there will be an exhibition of works by Annie Lord and others at the Foldyard Gallery, 44 Bridge Street, Berwick, to commemorate those who worked on the construction of Berwick Old Bridge 400 years ago. On Saturday 10 May 2025, a VE Day Community Tea Dance will be held in the Gymnasium within Berwick Barracks to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. It takes place from 2.00pm until 4.30pm and tickets cost £5 (including refreshments) obtainable from The Maltings. Step back in time – learn some dance steps and hear the music of the time. Dr Beth Elliott will give a talk about “The Phipps of Barmoor collection” on Thursday 24 April 2025 in Lowick Village Hall at 7.30pm. Beth has been listing the collection, which is held by Northumberland Archives, and she will talk about what she has found. The collection contains deeds, plans, accounts and estate papers relating to the Phipps family of Barmoor. Most relate to Samuel Phipps and concern his properties in London, Yorkshire and Northumberland. There are also some manorial documents. The Phipps were predecessors of the Sitwell family.
