A new book of photographs has just been published by the Friends and Berwick Record Office. “Snapshots of the Sixties” presents 58 photos drawn from the Photocentre Collection, recording life in and around Berwick in the 1960s. They illustrate the thriving employment at the Shipyard and at firms like Pringle’s, the visit of HMS Berwick and the departure of the KOSB from the Barracks, the fluctuating fortunes of Berwick Rangers and the beginning of Speedway. And many of the pictures show local people at work or at play, giving the opportunity for Berwickers of today to recognise members of their families and old...

A new book, “A Tale of Two Mills: Spindlestone & Waren, 1735-1914”, has been written by Jane Bowen and Karon Ives, and published by Belford & District Hidden History Museum. The book is being launched on Tuesday 28 November 2017 at an event at Bell View Resource Centre (West Street, Belford), 6.00-8.00pm. The history of these two mills has been explored in connnection with the Peregrini Project.

The FBDMA Autumn Lecture 2017, on “Archive Discoveries from the Peregrini Project”, will take place on Friday 10th November at 7.00pm in the Parish Centre (beside Holy Trinity Church, Parade, Berwick). Volunteers who have been working on the project will report on their findings about Holy Island and its surrounding area: Cocklawburn (Julie Gibbs) The Budle area and Greenwich Hospital (Jane Bowen) Holy Island and the Lifeboat (Linda Bankier) All welcome.
