  • Spittal at War 18/06/2015

    As part of Spittal Gala Day on Sunday 21 June 2015, the Record Office will be presenting an exhibition about Spittal during the Second World War.  They will also be collecting information from any visitors who have memories of wartime in Spittal.

  • Record Office reopens 17/06/2015

    Berwick Record Office has now reopened its public service in temporary accommodation in the Workspace in Walkergate. Its open days are Wednesday and Thursday, as before, 9.30am-1.00pm and 2.00pm-5.00pm.  Visitors should sign in at the Reception desk in the Workspace on arrival.

    Because most of the collections held by the Record Office are being stored elsewhere, those who wish to consult original documents should request them in advance of a visit, by phoning the Record Office on  01289 301865  or by e-mail to berwickarchives@woodhorn.org.uk .  The Record Office’s library of handlists, transcripts, and newspaper...

  • Big Dig at Ford Moss 12/06/2015

    On Sunday 14 June 2015 Ford Moss Colliery will be hosting a Big Dig, following a similar event at Flodden last year. Open between 11.00 and 3.00.

  • Salmon fishing ‘pop-up’ event 08/06/2015

    An event to gather local knowledge about salmon fishing on the Tweed is being organised by Newcastle University (working with Berwick 900) on Wednesday 10 June 2015, at The Pilot (31 Low Greens, Berwick) in the pub’s function room from 6.00 to 8.00pm.

    They say: “Bring along your stories, anecdotes, images, and curious artefacts: look on this as the Antiques Roadshow of salmon fishing! There will be rare film-clips on show, café-style story-telling activities (with refreshments) and opportunities for you to tell us what you know and think about life on the Tweed today. Drop in any time from 6pm.”
