  • Museum hours 25/07/2015

    Over the summer, for the duration of the school holidays (until the end of August) Berwick Museum & Art Gallery will additionally be open at weekends – and it will be free of charge.

    Saturday & Sunday, 11.00am – 5.00pm.

    Only the Museum and Gallery will be open at weekends, not the other attractions with the Barracks.

  • Heritage Open Days 25/07/2015

    This year’s Heritage Open Days in Berwick will be held from Thursday 10th until Sunday 13th September, and many local sites and buildings will be open to the public free of charge.  The events are organised locally by Berwick Civic Society, and more about them can be found on the Heritage Open Days website.  A film ‘trailer’ to celebrate the occasion makes extensive use of locations in Berwick – and it can be viewed here:

  • Norham Church 14/07/2015

    A lecture about the memorials in St Cuthbert’s Church in Norham will be given by Professor Ray Cartwright, in the church, on Saturday 25 July 2015 at 2.00pm. This is the second of a series of three lectures about the building and its contents. Admission free.  Refreshments afterwards.

  • Bamburgh event 12/07/2015

    The grounds of Bamburgh Castle are hosting an event in support of Hospice Care North Northumberland on Friday 31 July 2015, from 6pm until 11pm.  “A feast of musical talent from Classical, Opera, Folk and Jazz, to Pop and beyond.” Tickets are priced at £15, which includes a glass of summer punch and under 16’s go free with an accompanying paying adult. Ticket holders are invited to bring their own picnics, fizz, blankets, chairs and tables.  The event is part of the B Festival 2015, celebrating the 20th anniversary of HospiceCare North Northumberland.

  • Fishing story 02/07/2015

    As part of Berwick 900’s celebration of “Our Fishing Story”, the Record Office will be contributing displays illustrating the history of local fishing at an exhibition in the Guildhall from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th July 2015.

    Another exhibition entitled “Salmon Shiels and Silver Darlings” will be on show at the Watchtower Gallery (West End, Tweedmouth), 14th – 25th July.
