  • Family History Surgeries 25/03/2015

    Over the Easter weekend, the Record Office will be contributing to the first event in the Berwick 900 calendar, “Exploring Our Church and Your Family Heritage”.  On each of the four days from 3 April 2015 (Good Friday) until 6 April (Easter Monday), an advice session will be held for anyone needing help with their family research, from 12 noon until 2.00pm in St Andrew’s Church, Wallace Green, Berwick.  Call in  – whether you are getting started or getting stuck!

  • Berwick’s Burrell Collection 21/03/2015

    An exhibition of the artworks given by Sir William Burrell to Berwick-upon-Tweed is now open at the Granary Gallery, continuing until 4 May 2015.  “Berwick’s Burrell Collection” includes paintings by Degas, Boudin and Maris, as well as watercolours by Joseph Crawhall.  There is also a selection of the ceramics and wood and metal objects from the 300 decorative items which Burrell gave to the town.  Numerous information boards explain the background to Sir William Burrell’s life as a ship-owner and art-collector, and his connection with Berwick is illustrated with some memories of people who knew him.

  • Riding of the Bounds 19/03/2015

    A coffee morning is being held in Berwick’s Guild Hall on Saturday 21 March 2015 as part of the preparations for this year’s Riding of the Bounds.  The Record Office will be providing an exhibition of photographs documenting the history of the event.

  • Yeavering and Northumbrian Kingship 03/03/2015

    On Friday 13 March 2015 at 7.00pm, Dr Colm O’Brien will give the Spring lecture on “Yeavering and the origins of Northumbrian Kingship”.  The Annual General Meeting of the Friends will then follow the talk (around 8.15pm); and refreshments will be provided.  

    The event will take place in the Parish Centre, the Parade, Berwick-upon-Tweed. Please note the starting time of 7.00pm for the lecture.
