  • Flodden Anniversary 30/07/2013

    The 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden falls on Monday 9 September 2013, and among the many commemorative activities taking place on that day the Record Office will be putting on a display about the Palaeography Project which is currently under way to explore the surviving documentary material about the battle.  It will be on show in the marquee in Branxton village.

    On the preceding weekend, 7 and 8 September, there will be family activities also taking place in the Branxton marquee.

  • Donation from Jus-Rol 30/07/2013

    Jus-Rol, part of the General Mills group, have very generously made a donation of £2000 to the Friends.  It is to be used to assist with the purchase of the Photocentre Photographic Archive.

    The Photocentre in Bridge Street, Berwick ceased trading in September 2012. The business had operated from there since 1951, run initially by Dave Smith and then by his son, Ian, who has now retired. Its archive is a wonderful collection of photographs providing us with a visual record of this area’s social history in the past 60 years.
